Infinix Smart 8 Review: Can become a stylish choice

  • If you look at the Indian mobile market in the last few years, Infinix has surprised a lot. The company has not only attracted people’s attention with its new innovations, but has also made its place among the people by launching value for money phones. Recently the company has launched Infinix Smart 8, which is a budget phone, but in this also you get features like 50 MP camera, big screen and big battery. When this phone came to us for review, we also tried to find the value for money factor in it. Let us know:

Design and display

  • As soon as you open the box, the first thing you notice is the design of the phone and you will immediately say that it is of a budget of less than Rs 8,000. It gives a very good feeling. The back panel of the phone is made of polycarbonate plastic, which is quite shiny. The company has introduced it in neon blue color and it gives a gradient feel when the light falls on it. But the good thing can be said that despite the shiny body, it is neither very smooth nor does it get much fingerprints.
  • In the rear panel, a camera bracket will be found in square shape, on which three rings are made. On two you will see a camera, while one has a flash.
  • Talking about other ports, the power button and volume rocker are given on the right side. At the bottom, you have been given 3.5 mm audio jack, USB Type-C and loudspeaker grill. SIM slot will be visible in the panel on the left side, which supports microSD card with dual SIM.
  • The phone looks a little big, but its weight is not much. It weighs only 186 grams. In this case, you will be able to use it for a long time.
  • Talking about the display, Infinix Smart 8 has a 6.6-inch HD + display which comes with water drop notch. You will get an LCD panel in it and it supports 500 nits peak brightness. Although it may be called less, but it is good from budget point of view. You won’t face any problems while viewing indoors, but struggles a bit during bright lighting outdoors.
  • Despite the low budget, you get a refresh rate of 90 Hz, which can be called good. Along with this, this phone supports touch sampling rate up to 180 Hz. Overall, we can say that the display is also satisfactory.

camera

  • In Infinix Smart 8, the company has given a 50 MP dual camera. Although the secondary camera is AI. The main camera of the phone comes with F/1.85 aperture, while the aperture of the secondary camera is F/2.0. With the camera, you have been given options like portrait, slowmotion and AR shot. Talking about video, it is capable of recording HD video with Full HD at the rate of 30 frames per second.
  • Talking about camera performance, we can say that it is a bit slow. That means when you turn on the camera app, it takes some time to activate. As far as camera quality is concerned, it will look good in daylight conditions. Colors were coming out well and detailing was also available. But as soon as the light dims, it starts struggling again. The color becomes a bit dull and noises also become visible. But at this price you can’t expect anything better than this. For selfie, this phone has an 8 MP selfie camera and its result is also average.

performance

  • Infinix Smart 8 has been introduced by the company with MediaTek Helio G36 chipset. Although it is a bit old processor, but it is quite good considering the budget of Rs 8 thousand. The phone has an octa core processor with a clock speed of 1.6 GHz, which works on Cortex-A75 architecture. For graphics, it has Mali-G57 MC1 GPU.
  • For memory and storage, it has 4 GB LPDDR4X RAM. There is 64 GB storage available. Along with this, you also get 4 GB virtual memory support in the phone.
This phone works on Android 13 Go Edition. In such a situation, you cannot expect to run heavy apps. However, it is fine for daily tasks like calling, messaging and web surfing. At the same time, small games like candy crush, snooker etc. can be played comfortably. As far as multitasking is concerned, it is better not to open more than three-four apps simultaneously.
  • We also liked that it has some preloaded apps, but many of them you can uninstall. At the same time, you do not get to see many notifications or ads. The company has given Magic Ring feature in it, where like iPhone, notifications come on the punch hole notch like Dynamic Island.

battery-charging

  • For power backup, this phone has a 5,000 mAh battery and a 10 watt charger is available in the box with the phone. Once fully charged it takes about 2 hours. As far as backup is concerned, it takes about 2 days in average usage. Although the older model had a 6,000 mAh battery, you will not miss its absence in this phone.

connectivity

  • In this dual SIM based phone, you can avail the benefit of 4G on both SIMs. In this you get WiFi along with Bluetooth. DTS certified speakers are available in it for music. The music on the phone is quite loud and you will enjoy.

conclusion

  • The price of Infinix Smart 8 in the Indian market is Rs 7,499 and at this price it can be called a good phone. The design of the phone is quite good, the company is offering a 50 MP camera at a price of less than Rs 8 thousand.
