Honor X9B review: Where does this phone stand in terms of design, display, and performance?

  • Last year, Honor re-entered India and the company launched the first phone, in the promotion of which it broke the walnut. At the same time, now the company has launched its second model Honor X9b and this time during the promotion, XUV was put on the phone and the phone was saved. It is being claimed that this is one of the strongest phones in its budget. However, we also investigated these claims when this phone came to us for review. At the same time, in our article, we thoroughly tested the performance of the phone with strength so that users can be clear whether this phone is worth buying or not!
  • Talking about the design first, there is no doubt that the phone is beautiful. Although I would also say that such a design has already been seen before. The Realme 11 series and Realme 12 series phones are pretty much the same. In the rear panel, you will get to see the camera in a ring dial style like the Rolex watch. There are three cameras on all three sides of the ring, while the flash is provided at the bottom.
  • The most special thing was that the camera ring was in golden color and it is raised above the body. In such a situation, we used it without covering, but the golden color did not get spoiled. Maybe the color came out later, but it was perfect in 20 days of use.

The phone is available in two colours, black and white

  • We got both models, with the saffron colour phone using vegan leather, while the metal black colour phone is available in a glass finish. Both models look good, but the vegan leather model is more prone to getting dirty, while the model with glass finish looks clean. Both grips are good and hand-slip is also low. The frame in both is of metal and also gives a premium feel due to the curved design.
  • On the right side, you’ll find the power and volume buttons, while the bottom houses the SIM tray, USB Type-C port, and loudspeaker grille. The phone weighs 185 grams, which is quite good for today’s heavy-duty smartphones. Overall, the design is very impressive.

The phone did not break even when the car was being driven

  • The most important thing can be said that the company showed during its promotion that the car was driven on it and the phone did not break. We also checked this fact and first of all we crossed by putting our foot on it, but this phone did not break. After this, we put the Maruti Suzuki Baleno model car on it, but this phone was safe. We then mounted the Mahindra XUV500 on it, yet the phone survived. In this case, you can say that it is really strong.
  • However, let me tell you that the phone was not kept on the hard floor. A mat was laid under the phone so that the pebbles on the ground do not damage the phone, because here our purpose was just to check the load-bearing capacity of the phone and here this phone is completely fulfilled.

The display:

  • on the Honor X9B is 6.78 -inch and the company has used a curved AMOLED panel. The phone has a punch hole display that is not visible even when the screen is closed. The phone supports a 120Hz screen refresh rate with 1.5 k pixel resolution. The good thing is that it is capable of a 120Hz refresh rate with almost all apps.
  • It also supports 1200 nits peak brightness with 1920Hz PWM dimming. Although phones up to 2600 nits peak brightness have come today in this price range, but it will also not be called less. The bezels in the phone are quite low and you will be able to use almost 70 percent of the screen with one hand. Although the company has not mentioned screen protection, the screen is quite strict. There was a cover on the screen during use, in such a case do not talk about scratches, but many times we dropped it from some height, but the phone was safe. Although we would never advise you to drop your phone and check, but during our testing, this phone has passed.
  • As far as the viewing experience is concerned, it is quite good, while having a curved display makes its look and feel even more spectacular. During our testing, we tested it in all kinds of light conditions, such as bright sunlight, absolutely low light, etc. There was good news everywhere. We have no complaints about the display.

Hardware software design:

  • comes to hardware after display, so I can say that there is a little bit of compromise here. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor, which is made on 4 nanometer fabrication. It is an octa-core processor that supports a maximum clock speed of 2.2 GHz that works on the Cortex A78 architecture. It also has Adreno 710 GPU for graphics. Despite this, this processor will be slightly underestimated according to its price range. The OnePlus Nord CE 3.5 G is powered by the Snapdragon 782 SoC. At the same time, some phones are also available with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 processor.
  • Although it is not that you are going to have any problem in daily use, but it performs well, but this processor has become a little old and would have been better if it was on a new processor.
  • In terms of performance, we tested it on more than 10 benchmarks and the score was average everywhere. The phone managed to score 494241 on the AnTuTu benchmark.

Connectivity:

  • The dual-SIM phone supports 5G and supports almost all bands available in India. It also supports Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz and 5GHz along with Bluetooth 5.1.

Battery:

  • The phone packs 5,800mAh battery with 33W charging support. The most special thing we found was that even after such a large battery, the weight of the phone is quite low and it has been kept below 190 grams. In our PC Mark battery test, the phone lasted for 13 hours and 34 minutes, which is very less in terms of such a large battery. It was expected to last at least 20 hours.

Conclusion:

  • The Honor X9B has been launched in India with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The design of the phone is quite good and for strength, we even put a cart on it and it did not break. The phone’s UI is good and the display is great. Battery backup is also good. Yes, there was a slight deficiency in performance whether it was heavy usage or the camera. There the company needs to pay a little more attention. In the end, I would say that if you want to get a phone that will support you for a long time, then it is good, but if you are looking for a phone with the best performance, then it is not for you.
